Food in harmony with nature
The Fazenda Bananal Agroforest aims to produce food in harmony with nature, with biodiversity as its best ally. In total, more than 10,000 seedlings have been planted, occupying an area of 60,000m² / 14.83 acres (or 6 soccer fields). This productive forest is made up of 50 species, each with their own purpose and function. There are fruit species, timber, palm, vegetables, roots and grains, as well as the so-called fertilizers, whose function in the system is to provide organic matter through pruning to keep the soil consistently covered and soil life always active, as occurs naturally.
Alongside the productive areas, Fazenda Bananal also has forest restoration areas, whose objective is to recover degraded pasture sites and restore the ecological function of these areas, restoring all the exuberance of the Atlantic Forest to the landscape as well as all the environmental services the forest offers, such as maintaining the quality and quantity of water.
